Handicapped People Were Provided with Support Devices by Government of India at Banarhat

Webdesk, TNI Banarhat, 9th March, 2017: The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India along with a voluntary organization of Banarhat i.e. ‘Dooars Jagran’ organized a Handicapped Empowerment Camp today. The venue was the local Kali Mandir Premises. In this occasion, a small function was also organized. Mr. Victor Basu, the head of Dooars Jagran informed that a screening camp was also organized on 14 September 2016. In that camp 103 handicapped persons from Dhupguri Block, Nagrakata and Madarihat joined the program. From that camp 63 of them were shortlisted. Today they were provided with Tricycle, Wheel Chairs, Crutches, Hearing Devices, Blind Stick etc. Mr. Prasun Kumar Naik, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist Mr. Anindya Karmakar from Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan). Apart from them, other dignified people from the locality were also present.
